A little bit of wilderness every day...

Join us for ‘a little bit of wilderness every day' and spend a week packed full of short walks and day hikes exploring the most luscious, intricate and quirky parts of Golden Bay. You'll need a good pair of walking shoes as we hike to tussock covered mountains, through native forests, past waterfalls and along golden beaches in our national parks and around our stunning region.

In between we also take a wildlife and nature safari out onto Farewell Spit, we climb into a sea kayak and paddle along the beautiful Abel Tasman coastline and we get out and about around Golden Bay and get a feel of the local vibe.

At the end of each day stay in our pick of the region's guesthouses and lodges with the ever-present hot showers, cold beers, local wines and food and at times quirky restaurants!

Hiking options include short walks and two full day adventures.
One day sea kayaking.
Farewell Spit wildlife and nature safari.
Vehicle supported: Our trusty support vehicle carries all your gear, lunch, snacks and transfers us between accommodation and adventures.
Accommodation: six nights in our pick of local guesthouses and rustic cabins.
Food includes six breakfasts, six lunches and two evening meals. One lunch and all other evening meals are at your own cost at local cafes and restaurants so that you can experience some of Golden Bay's culinary delights of your own choosing.
Group size: minimum 4, maximum 12; plus Escape leaders.

What is the hiking like?

There are two big days with up to 8 hour hikes.
Five other hiking options from 1-4 hours.
All hikes vary in terrain. You will need to be comfortable on steep climbs and descents and on rough, uneven surfaces.
A high level of walking fitness recommended.
Changeable weather possible!

What is the kayaking like?

One day sea kayaking.
Sheltered, safe waters, prior experience is not necessary.
Professional kayak leaders/instructors.
